2 shot molding is also known as two color molding, two component molding, bi material molding or 2k molding. The 2 shot collapsible corner strainer injection molding requires a two shot collapsible corner colander mold and a two shot injection molding machine consisting of multiple barrels and tool rotating arrangements, Multiple barrels allow us to injection multiple material into the two component mold in one injection cycle.
Multiple material collapsible corner strainer manufactured with 2 shot molding can also be manufactured using over molding, but 2 shot injection molding has the advantage of superior part quality, low cycle time and cost.
The multiple material collapsible corner strainer 2 shot molding process as following:
- Firstly ,the machine injects PP material into the injection mold form barrel 1.
- After cooling of PP material, the core and cavity are separated from each other.
- Injection mold is rotated 180 degree and brought in position with injection barrel 2
- Afterward mold is closed, and machine injects the silicone material form barrel 2
- After silicone material is cooled, the multiple material corner colander is ejected out of injection machine.
